With less than six months performing as a unit, MACH22 achieved an honor that novice (hell, even established) rock bands dream of: legendary guitarist SLASH chose them to open his Atlantic City stop of the Apocalyptic Love Tour. SLASH then selected MACH22 out of 3,000 bands as the Grand Prize winner of Guitar Center Onstage with SLASH contest.
While MACH22 has been hailed as “Zeppelin meets Kravitz,” it’s been said that this label is too narrow a vision. “Everything from Aerosmith and Guns N’ Roses,” says Metalholic Magazine, “vibes right alongside Bootsy Collins and Miles Davis, even the Stones. It’s not just in the sound, but in the attitude, presence, and authenticity.”
While opening for SLASH has been a highlight for their young career, MACH22 has had the honor of performing at “Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival,” (attended by 75,000 concertgoers), opened for Steel Panther, and has shared the stage with Cinderella’s Jeff LaBar and Tom Keifer. They one day hope to play with Van Halen but until then, will settle for driving in the fire-painted tour van of the same name.
MACH22 is: Lamont Caldwell (vocals), Sebastian LaBar (guitar), Damian MonteCarlo (drums).
